What is the waiting time to start treatment (if any) at your department? How is this waiting time measured?
Currently, my department has a waiting time of less than one week. This means that patients can typically start at a time that closely matches their requirements based on their surgery date (or referral time).
In the past, we have experienced severe delays in our waiting list due to staff shortages and an increased number of referrals. This required referral of patients to other institutions. While this often occurs in other departments in large cities, in cities with a single department this is a large inconvenience for patients as well as staff.
Waiting time is measured from a date indicating 'ready for treatment' which is provided by the Radiation Oncologist.
