Sinonasal Sarcoma
A number of sarcomas can occur within the nasal cavity, including soft tissue and bone/cartilage types.
Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common form (20% occur in the nasal cavity, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses). Most other types occur within the nasal cavity but all are rare; fibrosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma and pleomorphic sarcoma predominate.
Bone Sarcoma
Ewing sarcoma is an important differential in the nasal cavity as it may be confounded with olfactory neuroblastoma. Osteosarcoma and chondrosarcoma also occur, chondrosarcoma forming about 1/6th of all mesenchymal malignancies in the sinonasal category.
