Sinonasal Neuroendocrine Tumours
Well Differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumours (Carcinoid)
Carcinoid and atypical carcinoid (similar to other sites) may arise in the sinonasal area but are exceedingly rare.
Small Cell Carcinoma
Small cell carcinoma is a rare tumour of the sinonasal tract that is highly aggressive and almost universally fatal.
Natural History
The disease is locally and distantly aggressive. Infiltration through and destruction of the facial bones is common, and may cause proptosis or tooth loosening. Distant metastases occur to the liver, lung, bone and other sites.
Tumour Features
The tumour is identical to poorly differentiated neuroendocrine tumours at other sites.
