Pancreatic Malignancies
The pancreas has both exocrine (ducts and acini) and endocrine functions. All of these parts can develop malignancy; the most common type is ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas which is responsible for about 85% of pancreatic cancers. Pancreatic cancer is typically associated with a terrible prognosis (1% 5 year survival).
