8: Salivary Gland Tumours
Salivary gland tumours make up a small but important group of head and neck tumours. The majority are benign but even these may occasionally require radiotherapy as part of their management. Squamous cell carcinomas of the mucosa and skin of the head and neck may metastasise to regional nodes imbedded within the parotid gland substance. Occasionally the primary site of these tumours is unable to be determined.
