4: Oropharynx

The oropharynx contains several distinct anatomical areas: the tonsils, the soft palate, the base of tongue, and the pharyngeal walls. Each of the sites has distinct management issues. Although the anterior surface of the epiglottis is bounded by the oropharynx it is normally considered as part of the larynx.
