Myeloid Sarcoma
This poorly named tumour is not a sarcoma but instead a collection of malignant myeloid cells that forms a soft tissue mass. They are typically radiation sensitive; however they most often occur in the setting of acute myeloid leukaemia for which treatment with systemic therapy is normally effective. Radiotherapy may be used in unusual settings where chemotherapy is not appropriate or easily arranged - e.g. malignant spinal cord compression.
