a) Ductal Carcinoma In Situ

Ductal carcinoma in situ or DCIS is the more common of the two in situ carcinomas of the breast. It is also a recognised precursor lesion to invasive breast cancer, as opposed to LCIS which is thought to be a harbinger of future cancers rather than the precursor lesion itself. Management of the two conditions is significantly different.
