a) Brain Metastases

Brain metastases are a common pre-terminal event in the progression of cancer. Management of this condition is controversial in two major areas:

  • The management of oligometastases, whether it be surgical excision, stereotactic radiosurgery/therapy, or whole brain radiotherapy, or some combination of these
  • The management of patients with advanced disease, and whether best supportive care is recommended over whole brain radiotherapy
